Dahl Memorial Earns Full Three-Year License — Thanks to Staff and Community Support

Dahl Memorial Healthcare Association has been awarded a full three-year license by the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS), following a two-day onsite Critical Access Hospital recertification survey. At the conclusion of the visit, the state surveyor announced there were no deficiencies—the highest possible outcome.

This is a major milestone for the hospital and the community it serves. The previous survey in early 2024 resulted in a one-year license with required corrective actions. Since then, the team at Dahl Memorial has worked hard to strengthen policies, improve processes, and ensure high-quality care for local residents.

“This result is a direct reflection of our staff’s daily commitment to doing things right,” said CEO Darrell Messersmith. “They’ve shown what’s possible when a team stays focused on serving the community with integrity and excellence.”

Dahl Memorial extends heartfelt congratulations to its staff for their dedication, and sincere thanks to the residents of Carter County for their continued support and belief in the team. That trust has been instrumental in helping the hospital move forward.

“This three-year license is not just a regulatory milestone—it’s a sign that we’re on the right path,” said Messersmith. “We are proud to serve this community, and grateful for the opportunity to do so every day.”
